The Government has this week published a consultation on red diesel which potentially would allowing red diesel to continue to be sold, although at a higher rate of duty.
This would save us all the significant cost of changing fuel infrastructure and tanks on board boats.
The purpose of the consultation is to
Seek views on the options offered from boat owners, suppliers of rebated fuel and other interested parties.
Invite suggestions for change that meet the needs, and provide the necessary safeguards, for both business and HMRC.
In order to assist contributors the Government have identified a number of potential options for change, and would welcome views on the merits and drawbacks of each. These are not intended to restrict either debate or alternative suggestions for change.
