At the RYA NI AGM, Rory Flannigan was awarded the ‘Young Powerboater of the Year Award’ for his incredibly close finish in the UK finals at Southampton last month.
Rory is a member of both Ballyholme and Royal Ulster Yacht Clubs and is always afloat assisting both Clubs. He is a great mark layer as well as proficient driver and often comes to the rescue of the dinghy sailors. Mind you, last weekend he needed ‘rescued’ – in the windy weather on Sunday he fell during the recovery of the rescue boats and hit his head. He was kept in hospital but was allowed out on Tuesday evening to collect his well earned award from the RYA. Well done Rory – from both BYC and RUYC!
